Free online games today are designed to actually create a virtual realm, a realm where users can just relax, chat with people who share similar gaming interests, or perhaps interact with people who share a similar passion. The possibilities are limitless. Online games were not as popular initially, the speeds at which users accessed the internet was the limiting factor. This required a high bandwidth, especially for real time games where more than one participant participated simultaneously. However all that changed dramatically, once internet access speeds increased and internet access became far cheaper.
